Well, if the existing drivers work, you will likely have to use them. 3-phase steppers are VERY rare, there were used in a few early 8" floppy drives, I haven't seen one in decades. If I can get these machines to work without having to reinstall as I dont entirely believe that is the problem but as far as checking with voltmeter it seems that is the next logical step on the PC Mill 55. On the PC Turn 55 I have no idea except that the AC 95 control board may be bad. If anyone has some guidance I would appreciate it.

Hello all. At home I'm using a light CNC turning machine a EMCO PC Turn 55. This is the same machine I find on many schools. Problem with this machine is that parting is pretty heavy if you do it in one move. Even pecking is not good enough. EMCO implemented a parting cycling with sidesteps in their software.

PC turn 55. You need to call emco and ask for the guy who knows these and he will sell you a chip to update the 485 card. Your PC Will Not see this card, it's only set in the memory allocation settings on the card. The Org card has some conflicts with the video memory and some motherboards. The chip should fix this.

The mill can be updated to take an ethernet card from from Emco to cure some of this and with updated Emco software can then be used without conversion. Might be worth looking into. I will say tooling up a PC Mill 50/55 without any tool holders gets expensive at around $100 a pop from Maritool. This machine does not use a drawbar.
