Re: Local Native American grinding holes? There is an interpretive trail (easy 1-mile loop) at the Mormon Rocks Ranger Station off the 138 ~ 1.5 mi W of the 15. There are mortar holes visible from the trail. The last time I was there, (a few years ago), there was a trail map/pamphlet at the start of the trail.
Looking for a weekend getaway in nature lead us to finding and camping at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park (SHP). Located in Pine Grove and a short drive from San Francisco made it the perfect spot for us to go. We went in November and the weather was definitely chilly. During our one night stay at Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park (SHP), we explored the day use area. There was so much to learn about the Miwok culture and traditions.
