As to using the valve grinder for machine tool sharpening, I have been wondering the same thing and to that end I purchased a different Quick-way valve grinding machine that I will attempt to modify for that purpose. I have the Kwik-way valve seat cutters. Best tools made as far as I'm concerned. Grinding is old technology but still has it's place. The carbide cutters do a much better job with no need to lap the valves. With the grinders, you have to continuously dress the stones for "good" jobs. For occasional use, a grinder isn't worth the price.
